Government Shuts Down as Dems, GOP Blame Each Other

The government officially shut down at midnight on Oct. 1.

For the first time since President Donald Trump’s first term in the White House, the United States government has shut down.

President Trump’s Republican Party claims that they will not cave to Democrats, who they say want to provide top-notch healthcare to undocumented immigrants, which fact checkers say is not true.

On the other hand, Democrats claim that the Republicans have shut down the government to strip hardworking Americans of their health benefits, provided under former President Barack Obama’s Affordable Care Act.

The Republicans control the White House, Senate and the House of Representatives, in addition to having a conservative Supreme Court.

Regardless of which side is to blame for the government shutdown, it will have a significant impact on everyday Americans, especially those working for government agencies.

Max Matza of BBC reported, “The U.S. federal government has shut down after Republican and Democratic lawmakers failed to resolve a budget stand-off.

“The impasse affects the funding of government operations throughout October and beyond and is poised to cause widespread disruption for Americans in areas ranging from air travel to zoo visits.

“The political gridlock is also expected to put 40 percent of the federal workforce—about 750,000—on unpaid leave.”

On Oct. 1, the White House issued a statement on its website putting all the blame on the Democrats, even though Republicans control all branches of government.

The White House wrote, “Democrats have officially brought on a full-blown government shutdown—engineered by the Radical Left lunatics who control of their party.

“As the lives and livelihoods of millions of Americans hang in the balance, Chuck Schumer gives two thumbs up…”

The White House website then shows a video of Sen. Schumer with two thumbs up during an appearance on “Morning Joe” on MSNBC.

The White House statement continued, “The fallout from the Democrat Shutdown hits Americans where it hurts. Critical food assistance for low-income women, infants, and children will lapse. Americans will experience travel delays and disruptions to Social Security services. Funding for inpatient home care and telehealth services for Medicare patients will be suspended. The list is endless as the effects ripple across all sectors of the American economy and it’s all the Democrats’ fault.”

Many of Trump’s supporters gravitated towards him because they believe he is strong.

And the GOP seems determined not to hand that perceived strength over to their Democratic counterparts.

Furthermore, many people voted for Trump because of his past business success, as documented in his bestselling book, The Art of the Deal.

But at the time of this article’s publication, Trump had not secured a deal with his Democratic counterparts to keep the government open.

On Sept. 30, Trump met with Schumer and House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-N.Y.) at the White House.

However, the meetings were overshadowed by Trump promoting a baseball cap that alludes to him running for an unconstitutional third presidential term in 2028 and the racist meme he posted to Truth Social, which showed Rep. Jeffries with a fake mustache and a sombrero, which has roots in Mexican culture.

Jeffries is African-American.

But the GOP has falsely claimed that the Democrats want to give free healthcare to undocumented immigrants.

Many falsely believe that all undocumented immigrants come from Latin countries like Mexico.

There are many undocumented White immigrants from European countries who overstay their visas, making them illegal.

Likewise, many people enter the United States illegally via the Canadian/American border.

But the face of illegal immigration to many is largely that of Hispanic ethnicity.

And the Trump White House has blamed that issue and the Democratic Party for the current stalemate in Washington, D.C.

The statement issued via the White House’s website continued, “President Trump and Republicans have been clear: Republicans will not be held hostage by this unserious, shameful political gamesmanship by Democrats.
“This shutdown is 100 percent on Democrats, whose radical agenda is poisoning our politics and punishing our people.”

However, Democratic voters have long complained about a party that they view as weak because it refuses to put up a fight against Trump’s agenda, which many believe is autocratic.

Therefore, holding firm against Trump’s plan to cut Affordable Care Act benefits might excite their base.

Furthermore, many on the left and the middle believe that Trump is the one “poisoning politics” based on his inflammatory rhetoric against Democrats, like blaming them for all political violence, even though data shows most acts of political violence in America are committed by right-wing people and groups.

Additionally, many on the left and middle believe that Trump is the one “punishing the people,” especially those who disagree with his policies.

Trump and the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) have made threats to broadcasters, comedians and journalists who criticize Trump or cover him in an unflattering manner.

ABC briefly preempted “Jimmy Kimmel Live” because of the comedian’s comments in the wake of the Charlie Kirk assassination.

Conservatives have longed claimed that late-night talk show hosts and journalists are overly critical of the Trump administration.

But after many began to boycott Disney, and politicians in both parties criticized FCC chairman Brendan Carr, ABC brought back the late-night talk show to record viewership.

The president also has faced criticism for sending the National Guard to patrol American cities and telling military leaders that the armed services could use American cities as a training ground, which implies that the American military would physically “punish” its own people.
