After the attempted assassination of former President Donald Trump, many will admit that the country, and the world for that matter, desperately needs unity and peace.
Trump asked for peace after his brush with death.
Likewise, President Joe Biden urged Americans to avoid violence even though he admitted that healthy debate and dialogue is needed in a democracy.
Although the political landscape is volatile, many Americans yearn for new and fresh voices to lead the country in a new and better direction.
While America can hope for a younger leader to come and unite and motivate us one day, people need to realize that peace, hope, joy and success will not come from a politician or political candidate.
True peace will only come when people accept Jesus Christ and look to Him for leadership and guidance.
Until America truly becomes one nation under God, death and destruction will definitely follow regardless of who occupies the Oval Office.
The problem with people is that they look for God in man.
Many believe that if a certain person gets into power, all their problems will cease.
Many believe that if a certain person gets into power, all their financial worries will disappear.
Many believe that if a certain person gets into power, all their health concerns will disappear.
They believe their relationships will be better.
They believe that the sky will become bluer, and the grass will suddenly become greener.
That is the reason for so much of the vitriol in politics and social media.
While good politicians certainly can do good for the people and bad politicians can do bad, a person’s life will not become better or worse based on any politician.
The gas prices will still go up and down regardless of who is in the White House.
The stock market will still go up and down regardless of what political party controls the House or Senate.
When a loved-one gets sick, the medical bills will still pile up regardless of great insurance.
If your spouse is a cheat or an abusive person, they probably still will be.
And if your kids are bad as you-know-what, they probably will still give you, you-know-what regardless of what happens in November.
The only thing that stays good and constant is the love of God.
When the bills become too much f0r me to handle, I do not get on my knees and pray to the president.
I pray to God.
When mother is battling a health problem, I am thankful for good healthcare and competent doctors.
But I do not rely on them for the ultimate outcome.
I rely on the One who will still be King regardless of an election because the true King can never abdicate or lose His throne.
Do not misunderstand me.
Please, participate in the political process.
That is how legislation changes.
Just remember that the true law does not need to overcome a filibuster.
The true law is not subject to presidential veto power.
Just like its Creator, the true law is the same yesterday, today and tomorrow.
Regardless of who wins the 2024 presidential election and other races, those leaders will soon depart from office, leadership and life quite honestly.
And after they are gone, the good, bad and ugly will still consume us if we allow it to.
But if we live our lives as Christlike as possible, many of the world’s problems will get minimized.
If we learn to turn the other cheek, we could stop hate and potential violence.
If we love our enemies as Christ instructs us to, we will not have to worry about worldly retribution.
If we choose love over hate, then one day we might become the Christian nation that we claim to be.
Unfortunately, right now America is far from Christ.
That is why there is so much chaos in our country.
We falsely believe that just because God allows someone to hold a position of power that they are Heaven-sent.
God does not send hate.
God does not send chaos.
And God does not send violence.
Therefore, the emotions that we see on social media and political rallies are definitely not of God.
And those realities go for every politician and every party.
No politician should receive godlike praise.
True praise should be reserved for Christ.
No politician should be worshipped.
Only the Lord should be worshipped.
And no human being should ever be considered a true hero because true heroes sacrifice their lives for the betterment of all mankind.
And the last time I checked, the only person that died for all mankind was Christ Jesus.
God created human beings with a void.
That void can only be filled by God.
That void is to need something 0r Someone that is above and bigger than us.
That can only be God.
But when people, even those who claim to believe in God, forget that they begin worshipping people and things that do not deserve it.
People without God begin worshipping their material possessions.
They begin worshipping leaders, politicians and even clergy.
That is not to say that God cannot use man.
He does that all the time.
But just like he uses one person or president, when that person’s job is done or they have not done what God wants them to do, He can replace them and give the assignment and blessings to someone else.
That is what is meant when I say someone is not Heaven-sent because God does not just have to send one particular person to make a certain impact in the world.
Maybe, when people realize that they will stop looking at dudes like a deity.
And this country could truly enjoy peace, love and unity.
