Imagine Being Generation of African-Americans Who Voted Their Advancements, Freedom Away for 45/47

(Todd A. Smith)

Where did it all go wrong?

In 2020, the African-American community galvanized behind the murders of unarmed African-Americans like George Floyd and Breonna Taylor.

The community began doing for itself, supporting Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) and Black-owned businesses.

The majority of African Americans rejected the racist rhetoric of President Donald Trump, helping oust him from the Oval Office in favor of former President Joe Biden.

In the meantime, the community assisted an African-American woman, former Vice President Kamala Harris, in making history by elevating her to the second highest government position.

Then over the next four years, the African-American community quickly forgot what had happened to it during the previous presidential administration.

They forgot how President Trump wanted to use the National Guard to clear out Black Lives Matter protestors so that he could take a photo-op at a Washington, D.C. church holding a closed Bible.

Emphasis on closed Bible because he probably has never read a verse in the Bible.

And if he has, he is so narcissistic that he probably does not believe in God or that God’s Word applies to him.

Many African-Americans must have forgotten how he tried to disenfranchise African-American voters in Atlanta and surrounding areas when he asked Gov. Brian Kemp (R-Ga.) to find him enough votes to steal the 2020 presidential election from former President Biden.

Many in the African-American community must have forgotten how he insulted them by saying that his criminal mugshot would help him resonate with African-Americans, as if all African-Americans have taken mugshots before.

Many African-Americans must have forgotten when he told African-American voters that illegal immigrants from Mexico were taking Black jobs as if illegal immigrants were qualified to do what African-American doctors, lawyers, scientists, astronauts, pilots and engineers do.

Those occupations were not chosen randomly because as an African-American man, I have relatives, friends and fraternity brothers currently working in those professions.

Or did he mean that Black jobs equaled menial labor jobs like maids and landscapers?

Many African-Americans must have forgotten when he vowed to end diversity, equity and inclusion programs.

Or maybe they just thought they were good Negroes, and “Massa” was gonna spare their jobs because they were not troublemakers and they told on those field Negroes who wanted the buck the system.

Many African-Americans forgot all the racist rhetoric and dog whistles that have come from Trump’s mouth for decades.

However, they remembered that he signed his name on the stimulus check they received during the pandemic.

Notice how it does not say that Trump gave people their stimulus check?

That is because he did not.

The stimulus checks came from a Democratic-led Congress.

Furthermore, Trump refused to sign the legislation unless his name could appear on the checks because he knew some ignorant people would fall for his con, not knowing a scammer if he had orange paint all over his face.

I hope those checks were worth giving back generations of hard-fought victories for the African-American community because that is just what many African-American voters, especially African-American men, did when they voted for a White supremacist/antichrist.

Aimee Picchi and Megan Cerullo of CBS News reported, “Among the flurry of executive orders since his Jan. 20 inauguration, President Donald Trump has taken aim at rooting out diversity, equity and inclusion, or DEI, programs within the federal government. But his efforts go beyond DEI, with one recent order rescinding a Civil Rights-era rule that has helped protect millions of workers from discrimination…

“Revoking the 60-year rule eliminates a bedrock civil rights protection for American workers, signaling an effort to target workplace issues that go beyond DEI, labor experts say. While DEI is shorthand for programs that encourage equality in the workplace for women, minorities and other groups, the Equal Employment Opportunity rule prohibited federal contractors from engaging in acts of discrimination, such as refusing to hire someone due to their race or paying an employee less because of their gender.”

Nevertheless, some African-Americans will continue to stick up and fight for a man who is obviously determined to set them back generations with a stroke of a pen.

Some still fight for him even as they lose their federal jobs.

African-Americans have always had to fight for our freedom and our rights.

Many African-Americans stay ready for the fight.

But very few African-Americans would have ever believed that other African-Americans would voluntarily give those advancements away by voting for Trump, voting third party or simply not voting.

What makes it even worse is that they voted for a White supremacist over an African-American woman because she is only half African-American.

Apparently, the White supremacist is the answer for the African-American community.

However, the woman who is half African-American, graduated from an HBCU and joined a predominantly African-American sorority (Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.) is not the answer.

Chile please.

Our ancestors died for us.

They went to jail for us.

They sacrificed for us.

Many knew they would not enjoy the victories that they fought for.

Nevertheless, they made those sacrifices for future generations of African-Americans.

And this generation went to the voting booth in November 2024 and voluntarily gave it all back.

Many gave it back because of a stimulus check, falsely believing they would get another one under Trump, without another global pandemic.

Many gave it all back because they would rather lose their freedom than see transgender athletes compete in female sports.

And many gave it back because they basically believed the White man’s ice was colder than the Black woman’s ice.

Unfortunately, now, all African-Americans must live in a coldhearted world because some decided to vote against their well-being.

Thanks a lot!
