The Story of Thelma Louise: MAGA’s Token Black Getting Removed from Ken Paxton Rally

(Todd A. Smith)

Black Make America Great Again (MAGA) influencer Thelma Louise should have familiarized herself with the Jay-Z song “The Story of O.J.” because then she would not have found it shocking to see her Black behind getting removed from a Ken Paxton political rally in San Antonio.

In the song “The Story of O.J.,” hip-hop icon Jay-Z rapped, “Light n***a, dark n***a, faux n***a, real n***a, rich n***a, poor n***a, house n***a, field n***a, still n***a…O. J. like, ‘I’m not Black, I’m O.J.,’ O.K.”

In the lyrics Jay-Z played off late NFL Hall of Fame running back O.J. Simpson’s belief that he had transcended race amongst White people and was no longer seen as Black by the majority.

And then when he was accused of murdering two White people, many in White America, understandably to everyone but Simpson, began to despise him to the point where the mainstream press remains obsessed with him beating double murder charges, still releasing documentaries and breaking news about alleged accomplices.

Malcolm Ferguson of The New Republican reported, “A Black MAGA influencer says she was booted from a Ken Paxton rally on Sunday.

“Thelma Louise runs a large TikTok account in which she makes pro-Trump content, particularly from her perspective as a Black female conservative. On Sunday, she was excitedly documenting her experience at Paxton’s rally for his upcoming Senate race—before she was asked to leave without cause.”

Online Louise said, “And there’s no one that I can talk to about this? Wow. Oh my gosh. I cannot believe this…Someone just came up to me and said that Ken Paxton’s campaign manager wanted me to leave. I am just—my mouth is wide open right now. I can’t believe this.”

No worries Ms. Thelma because the rest of Black America believes this.

More importantly, many Black Americans have warned many Black conservatives of this reality for years.

Yes, there are many Black conservatives.

I am conservative on some issues.

But many White Americans do not want you in their club.

Yes, conservative politicians will take your Black vote to further their agenda of White supremacy.

But what do Black people get from more White supremacy just because many Black people might disagree with abortion or same sex marriage?

Is that enough to sell your soul and do things that cause harm and danger to yourself and your community?

Many Black conservatives say that they respect overt racism from White conservatives over possible subconscious racism from some White liberals.

But a Black person must be a special kind of stupid to know someone is overtly racist and attempting to hold their people back and still want to be friends and hang out with them.

I grew up in Houston, which is about 95 miles from Vidor, Texas.

During my childhood, Vidor, Texas had a notorious reputation of killing Black residents and running the rest out of town.

Although I once accidentally stopped at a McDonald’s in Vidor, Texas to relieve myself back in the day, I am often glad that I know how racist Vidor is before I stop there and find myself the victim of racism.

But knowing how racist Vidor is does not make me want to visit and hang out with the residents, on purpose.

It makes me avoid the town at all costs, while praying that I do not have car trouble while driving on Interstate 10.

I feel like my life and health are in danger from overt racists.

However, I do not necessarily feel that way because some liberal might have some subconscious bias about my community.

Anyone with a modicum of intelligence knows that Louise was removed simply because of the skin she was in, even though racists always make up a non-racist excuse for their racist behavior.

The Paxton campaign later said that they mistook Louise for an alleged paid agitator who supports his opponent, Texas state Rep. James Talarico.

Like Simpson, MAGA influencer Thelma Louise thought she was special because many conservative White people do not view her as a threat to their desire for White supremacy.

Louise was the one Black friend that White racists like to brag about having so that they can prove to themselves and others that they are not bigots.

The conservative influencer was welcomed in MAGA circles because she probably echoed their sentiments on racial issues.

Louise probably pretended that slavery was not about race.

She probably believed her MAGA friends did not see race.

The social media content creator probably felt special to be the only Black person at a Paxton rally in San Antonio.

She probably believed that her ascension in the world of MAGA influencers was all merit based and that every other Black person not in attendance at the Paxton rally, or similar MAGA rallies, were probably not there because their overseers at the Democratic plantation would not let them out of their cotton-picking duties for the day.

Although Jay-Z, and before him Willie D, said that no matter what a Black person does, he is still viewed as an N-word, that does not mean that Black people should care about the opinion of racist White people.

But Black people must be self-aware enough to realize when someone is using them and not confuse it with genuine respect.

Although I do not care what a random woman thinks of me, if we start dating, I need to be aware if she is really into me or just using me for a free meal or drinks.

Black people like Thelma Louise are being used by the Republican Party to get just enough Black votes to further their agenda.

But as soon as they get what they want, they’ll discard their tokens like they were just another N-word.
