Stop the Steal is Right
I support the Stop the Steal movement.
However, the wrong politician currently leads the Stop the Steal movement.
President-elect Joe Biden should lead the Stop the Steal movement because it is outgoing President Donald Trump and his Republican flunkies trying to steal the presidential election, and undermine our beloved democracy.
Outgoing President Trump partly ran as the “law and order” candidate during the 2020 presidential election.
The fact that people bought this is almost comical because Trump and his cronies have gone out of their way to steal the election from President-elect Biden.
The last time I checked, stealing is against the law.
But I guess law and order only applies to Trump’s adversaries, and laws mean nothing to Trump, his family and his allies like Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) and others.
On Nov. 17, Trump fired Chris Krebs, the government’s top election security official via Twitter because Krebs would not promote Trump’s lies about voter fraud and security issues with the presidential election.
In fact, Krebs repeatedly shot down Trump’s arguments about voter fraud, saying that the 2020 election was the most secure in United States history.
In a pair of tweets, Trump said that Krebs’ statements about election security were “highly inaccurate.”
The defeated president also said that the election was riddled with “massive improprieties and fraud.”
Twitter slapped Trump’s tweets with facts refuting his claims about voter fraud.
Also on Nov. 17, two Republican election canvassers from Wayne County, Mich. initially refused to certify election results in Detroit, a predominantly African-American city that voted overwhelmingly for Biden.
The canvassers initially cited voting irregularities in their decision not to certify Detroit votes.
Biden won Michigan by over 148,000 votes.
Detroit voted for Biden over Trump by over 322,000 votes.
Eliminating the votes from Detroit would give the state to Trump.
It would also be illegal and unconstitutional.
One of Trump’s legal advisors said that the initial refusal not to certify Detroit should lead to Michigan’s Republican state legislature selecting their own electors.
Today, Trump is meeting with at least one Michigan state congressman at the White House to discuss the election.
On Twitter, Trump called the Republican canvassers courageous for disenfranchising African-American voters and attempting to steal the election despite the will of the people.
Trump personally called Republican Wayne County, Mich. canvasser Monica Palmer.
After the call, Palmer stated that she wanted to rescind her vote certifying the election results in Wayne County.
Trump called her behavior courageous.
On the contrary, I call it criminal.
If that is not bad enough, Sen. Graham implied that Georgia should throw away some of its ballots so that Trump could win that state.
Graham made the implied suggestion to Georgia’s Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger, who is also a Republican.
Raffensperger had a witness on the phone call to verify the implication.
The Republican Secretary of State found no voting fraud in the “Peach State.”
In fact, no widespread voter fraud has been discovered.
Biden won the election, legally and resoundingly.
However, attempts by Trump and his thugs to steal the election get uncovered almost daily, which is treasonous.
Nevertheless, Trump has not conceded his election defeat to Biden.
Furthermore, the president has been spending his final weeks in the White House filing baseless lawsuits alleging election fraud.
His cult followers have even taken to the streets in various cities to stand by the defeated politician and demand that Democrats stop the steal.
To Trump and his cult followers, stealing the election means people casting legal ballots against a candidate that they support.
I disagree completely.
I call that democracy.
I also call that an election.
Furthermore, that is called termination and the people of the United States are the bosses and employers.
Trump was the employee.
But like any and every job, if an employer finds someone better to take a person’s position, the spot no longer belongs to that person.
When employers are unhappy with a person’s performance, the better candidate or applicant simply replaces that person.
There is nothing nefarious about getting beat out of your job by better competition.
It happens all of the time in the sports arena.
Legendary quarterback Tom Brady left the New England Patriots after the 2019 season.
Brady had won six Super Bowls in his 20 seasons in Foxborough, Mass.
However, he wanted a change of scenery and better talent around him.
Therefore, to paraphrase LeBron James, Brady took his talents to Tampa, Fla.
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers already had a quarterback at the time.
The team took Jameis Winston with the first pick in the 2015 NFL draft, after his final season at Florida State University.
The problem with Winston was despite all of that talent and promise; he never quite matured on or off the field while playing for the Buccaneers.
The off the field problems that tarnished his career at Florida State followed him down the road from Tallahassee, Fla. to Tampa, Fla.
Furthermore, he could not stop turning the football over despite all of the offensive weapons he had at his disposal with the Buccaneers.
Therefore, when a better option like Brady came calling, Winston received his pink slip.
To his credit, Winston handled his termination gracefully.
He found another job with the New Orleans Saints.
But he did not make excuses and did not criticize anyone as he walked out of the door in Tampa, Fla.
He did not say that Brady stole his job.
Winston did not accuse his former coach Bruce Arians of fraud.
He simply picked up the pieces, put on his big boy pants and looked for another opportunity elsewhere.
As a result of Drew Brees’ recent injury, Winston will probably start again in the NFL as quarterback of the Saints.
Winston has handled his demotions and promotions like a man.
But here is the real kicker.
Winston is 26-years-old.
On the contrary, Trump is 74-years-old.
Now, if a young man under the age of 30 does not think someone stole from him just because he lost his job to a better person, the fact that a senior citizen is doing it is quite pathetic.
The only thing anyone ever stole from Trump is his brain. But then again, he never had a brain to begin with.
