God’s View on Same Sex Marriage

Multiple States Approve Same Sex Marriage

Unfortunately, as time passes society seems to move farther away from the word of God.  First, we outlawed prayer in the classroom.  And now we are threatening to destroy our Heavenly Father’s purpose for marriage and sexual relationships.

Multiple states have begun to allow same sex marriage.  Massachusetts became the first state to approve same sex marriage in 2004, and a few more states offer some benefits similar to same sex marriage.

Proponents of same sex marriage argue that not allowing same sex couples to marry is form of discrimination, because everyone should have the right to marry.

Despite this argument, banning same sex marriage is by no means discrimination, it is biblical.

For years, many people have wondered what caused a person to be physically attracted to someone of the same gender.  Many argued that sexual orientation must be innate because no one would choose to face that level of prejudice and scrutiny.  However, people who believe in this theory are totally false and misguided.

The cause of homosexuality is the same cause of fornication, adultery, drug and alcohol addiction, gambling and all other things that go against the will of God.  The cause is sin.

Our own unrighteous desires lead us to commit acts which are against the will of God.  Although we are all imperfect, we commit sins not simply because Satan tempted us, but because deep down we had a desire to do such things.  Satan cannot tempt us to do something we have no desire to do.

As a result of our sinful nature, God sent his only begotten son, Jesus Christ, to die on the cross for our transgressions, because without Him, we would all fall short of the glory of God.  Although God is very adamant about his commandments, He would never force anyone to live a righteous life.  Salvation comes by choice, and those who choose to ignore His will, will be given to their evil desires, which is the cause of homosexuality.

The Apostle Paul wrote in Romans 1: 24-32, “Therefore God also gave them up to uncleanness, in the lusts of their hearts, to dishonor their bodies among themselves, who exchanged the truth of God for the lie, and worshipped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever.  Amen.”

“For this reason God gave them up to vile passions.  For even their women exchanged the natural use for what is against nature.  Likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust for one another, men with men committing what is shameful, and receiving in themselves the penalty of their error which was due.”

“And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a debased mind, to do things which are not fitting; being filled with all unrighteousness, sexual immorality, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, evil-mindedness; they are whisperers, backbiters, haters of God, violent proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents, undiscerning, untrustworthy, unloving, unforgiving, unmerciful; who, knowing the righteous judgment of God, that those who practice such things are deserving of death, not only do the same but also approve of those who practice them.”

Unfortunately, many of us fall into one of those categories and deserve death, but through the blood of Jesus we can have redemption and salvation if we accept Him and turn away from our sins.

Proponents of same sex marriage will argue that God loves them too.  While this true, God does not love all of our actions, behavior or lifestyle.

God gave us marriage as a form of companionship, but most importantly as a means of reproduction.  Same sex marriage should not be allowed because of the main purpose of marriage, which is to procreate.

Many who criticize same sex marriage are often seen as bigots, and compared to segregationists who discriminated against African Americans in the Jim Crow South and preached hate against anyone with a dark complexion.  However, would someone who hates you care enough about you to lead you into righteousness?

Those advocating same sex marriage are essentially pushing people away from a loving fellowship with God.   Ask yourself is that really love at all?
