Another Adrenaline Rush for ‘Jack Reacher’ Franchise

Jack Reacher (Tom Cruise) is still the man to call to uncover government conspiracies and to exonerate those falsely accused of heinous crimes.

Reacher’s only problem is that although he solves the problems placed on his desk, he does so in a not so subtle way.

“Jack Reacher: Never Go Back” is no different, and is another adrenaline rush for action movie junkies.

In the sequel “Jack Reacher: Never Go Back,” the title character has developed regular phone correspondences with Major Susan Turner (Cobie Smulders), with each helping the other out as circumstances dictate.

Jack vows to meet Susan personally during his next trip to the nation’s capital.

However, when he arrives in Washington, D.C. he learns that Turner has been replaced and charged with espionage for selling United States secrets to foreign countries.

Knowing how Reacher will respond, Turner forbids Reacher from seeing her while she is incarcerated.

Nevertheless, Reacher is able to ascertain information from a trusted soldier with knowledge of the case against Turner.

He meets with Turner’s lawyer and soon finds out that Turner has been framed.

Along with investigators that Turner has sent to Afghanistan, it has been discovered that the United States military has been selling weapons on the black market to radical insurgents.

In order to quiet the investigation, the powers that be have to quiet the investigators, permanently.

Unfortunately, when Reacher and Turner confront her accuser and replacement it leads to the replacement’s death, with Reacher becoming the lead suspect in his murder.

In order to clear their names, Turner and Reacher must expose the government’s conspiracy, while also protecting the third wheel in their operation, 15-year-old Samantha (Danika Yarosh).

The key to any action film is exciting the audience despite them usually knowing who comes out on top.

“Jack Reacher: Never Go Back” accomplishes that task with the requisite car chases, gun battles and fistfights.

But the film also does it by throwing in a few twists and turns that excite and emotionally drain moviegoers at the same time.

Reacher’s adversaries know that it is hard to get to him emotionally.

However, it might be easier to get to him emotionally if they can get to a loved-one that he did not know existed.

Cruise is great.

Smulders is great.

And Aldis Hodge (“Straight Outta Compton”) is someone to watch out for in the next few years.

Hodge’s star in Hollywood should only shine brighter with each role.

Furthermore, Yarosh is definitely a young actress with the charisma and talent to have a long and prosperous career.

“Jack Reacher: Never Go Back” will be described as formulaic by some critics.

However, that does not prevent it from being a very good film.

“Jack Reacher: Never Go Back” is similar to many action films.

However, that does not take away from the fact that it is a very enjoyable adrenaline rush and proof that Cruise is still a bankable box office star.
