Helping Hand

Helping Hand

 When we’ve made it

In this rat race called life

We tend to forget

Those who have not been

As fortunate in their quest for success

We’re taught to strive for the American dream

That fabulous home with a white picket fence

Once the dream becomes a reality

Some of us have the false notion

That our success is a direct result

Of our intelligence and hard work

It’s amusing that when we’re

Climbing that mountain of prosperity

We always appreciate that positive

Reinforcement from supporters

However, once we’ve reached the mountaintop

We forget to return the favor

To those in desperate need of a helping hand.
