Michael Strahan Hosts Charity Golf Tournament

Super Bowl Champion New York Giants’ defensive end Michael Strahan teams with the Ray Anthony Peacock Memorial Scholarship Fund in the 2nd Annual Ray Anthony Peacock Memorial Scholarship Golf Tournament.

The tournament scheduled for Saturday, April 12th and held at Hermann Park Golf Course funds scholarships for area college-bound teens. The RAP Memorial Scholarship Fund is a 501(c) (3) nonprofit organization dedicated to encouraging young people to pursue their goals of higher education after high school.

The scholarship was initiated in 1984 to memorialize Ray Anthony Peacock, whose life was cut short in 1977 at age 18 during his freshman year in college. The primary goal of the scholarship is to benefit graduating seniors interested in higher education.

Since its existence, 26 graduating students have received scholarships. To continue the efforts originated by his mother, Theresa Peacock, the organization joins forces with Michael Strahan, a native Houstonian and Texas Southern University graduate, to host this year’s funding event.

Tournament registration begins at 7 a.m., followed by a continental breakfast and tee off at 8 a.m.  The tournament concludes with a buffet lunch and award ceremony at 12:45 p.m. The entrance fee is $100 per golfer and is played in foursome. Organizers use the best ball format to ensure that all golfers, whether serious or recreational, experience an enjoyable round of golf in support of a good cause.

Entertainment and virtual golf games are available in the clubhouse for individuals supporting the benefit but not golfing. Sponsors for this year’s event include Ted Ellis Fine Arts, Superior Video Productions, Rejuvenating Body Works, Fall Creek Memorial Chapel, Fitness Fundamentals, Audiovisual Concepts, and FourtionEntertainment.  Additional sponsorship packages are available for corporations and individuals.
