Who’s Wifey?

“You never try me, always stood right by me, make living lively, highly spoken of, my only love, the only one, you’re my wifey.”

Fellas, including R&B group Next who released the above song “Wifey,” sometimes call random women their wifey, but what do men really think it takes to make a woman wife material?

Sure, a beautiful face and nice body would not hurt, but beauty often fades and it takes more than the superficial to survive until death does a couple apart.

Do men look for cooking skills; being equally yoked spiritually, friendship, loyalty, strength, confidence or a combination of all of the above?

While all men think differently, RegalMag.com wanted to research what men look for in a woman to determine if she is wife material.

According to MommyNoire.com, many men polled said that they are attracted to ambition in a woman.

One respondent stated, “She doesn’t have to have a lot of money but she has to be working to get it…she has to be working toward something.”

Although some men cannot handle a strong and independent woman, many men want a woman who has the same hustle that they possess.

Like Jamie Foxx sang on the Ne-Yo song “She Got Her Own,” she has drive that matches my drive.

Many men want a woman that will compliment their lifestyle and their career goals, which is similar to what many women want from their man.

A large number of men believe that loyalty is one of the most important characteristics a woman can have when it comes to being wife material.

Of the 25 traits a girlfriend should have that would qualify her as wife material, TheFirstClassLifestyle.com listed “She supports and believes your goals” number 13.

The article stated, “She will have your back no matter what and allows you to have the time you need to do what you have to do because she knows your dreams are just as important as hers.”

TheFirstClassLifestyle.com listed many attributes RegalMag.com cosigns like she makes you a better man, trustworthiness, coming from a good family, being a good cook and has her future planned out.

However, there were some traits RegalMag.com does not co-sign such as she doesn’t have baggage.

A woman’s past does not always represent her present or future.

The article listed “she’s attractive on the inside and out” as the number one quality to look for when searching for wife material.

“Her beauty is more than skin deep,” the article stated.  “You know every flaw about her and still find those to be her best attributes.  Every time you see her it’s like the first time, you’re crazy about her.”

GoodGuySwag.com gets kudos for highlighting the importance of sharing the same beliefs.

“Your potential wife should have the same beliefs you have.  Now, you may think you can do some missionary dating, and turn that situation around so she will believe everything you do.  You’re probably going to be very disappointed with some bad side effects. If you don’t have the same core beliefs…good luck,” said Kris Wolfe.

While the criteria for wife material might vary with each guy, traits like intelligence and getting along with your friends and family members are essential.

Additionally, if she stood right beside you during the tough times, she might be the one that should be by your side until the end of time.
