Tamar Braxton Rushed to Hospital in Possible Suicide Attempt

Singer and reality television star Tamar Braxton has been rushed to the hospital, unresponsive, in a possible suicide attempt.

Braxton is reportedly in stable condition.

But at the time of publication, she is still unconscious.

The Los Angeles Police Department confirmed that they received a call around 9:45 P.M. on July 16 of a possible overdose in regards to a 43-year-old woman.

Ambulances arrived at the Ritz Carlton Hotel in Los Angeles, and transported Tamar Braxton to a downtown Los Angeles hospital.

Her boyfriend David Adefeso, who called 911 for Tamar Braxton, said that she had been drinking while taking an unknown amount of prescription pills.

She is currently under 24-hour watch at that downtown Los Angeles hospital.

Tamar Braxton rose to fame starring with her sisters on the WE TV reality show, “Braxton Family Values.”

The reality show also regularly stars Toni Braxton, Traci Braxton, Trina Braxton and Towanda Braxton.

Family matriarch Evelyn Braxton also appears periodically on “Braxton Family Values” and serves as a producer of the reality show.

Prior to the reality show, The Braxtons sang background for superstar soul and pop singer, Toni Braxton.

Previously, Toni Braxton sang with her sisters as The Braxtons before going solo when she joined LaFace Records in the early 1990s.

Reportedly, Kenny “Babyface” Edmonds and Antonio “L.A.” Reid of LaFace Records did not know how to market the singing sisters because of the wide age range of the sisters.

With the older Toni probably singing lead, LaFace Records found it difficult to find the right material considering the ages of some of the younger sisters like Tamar Braxton.

Nevertheless, Toni Braxton did not forget her sisters when looking for backup singers to take on the road with her on tour.

But initially against the idea of the “Braxton Family Values” reality show, Toni eventually went along with the idea.

The show made all of the siblings pop culture celebrities.

However, Tamar Braxton became the undisputed star of the show.

As she probably would say, her performances on the show are thebomb.com.

Tamar Braxton’s star power on the show led to her relaunching a successful solo singing career.

She struck gold with her 2012 album “Love and War,” which debuted at number two on the Billboard 200 chart, almost topping the number one album by Ariana Grande at the time.

Tamar Braxton released four singles from the “Love and War” album including the title track, “The One,” “All the Way Home” and “Hot Sugar.”

Furthermore, The Braxtons finally released their long overdue group debut album with “Braxton Family Christmas” on October 30, 2015.

Tamar Braxton also had a very public marriage with music executive and producer, Vincent Herbert.

Their relationship even led to a WE TV spinoff reality show entitled, “Tamar & Vince.”

Throughout his music industry career, Herbert has worked with Tamar Braxton, Tatyana Ali, Toni Braxton, Hi-Five, Mindless Behavior and Lady Gaga among many others.

Herbert also owns Streamline Records, which put out Tamar Braxton’s “Love and War” album via Epic Records and Interscope Records.

Tamar Braxton married Herbert in 2008.

The couple has a son named Logan, born in 2013.

But the couple officially divorced in 2019 with Tamar Braxton citing irreconcilable differences.

Tamar Braxton also found success as a co-host of the television talk show, “The Real” from 2013-2016.

Fellow “The Real” co-host Loni Love said that Braxton’s 2016 termination “tarnished” the show.

According to ETOnline.com, “Braxton’s firing from ‘The Real’ seemed to come out of nowhere. (Love) said she was given no explanation of why she was let go from the series, and Love and other co-hosts, Adrienne Houghton, Tamera Mowry-Housley and Jeannie Mai, said they were taken aback by the news. However, rumors quickly spread about drama among the ladies, especially after Braxton posted on Instagram about being backstabbed and then unfollowed Love. She unfollowed the other women days later.”

This year, Braxton has plans to release a docuseries called “Tamar Braxton: Get Ya Life!” that chronicles her as she turns her life around.

Imdb.com states, “Tamar Braxton is back to turn her life around. With her new boo by her side, Tamar shares her truth and fights against demons determined to bring her down as she relaunches her career and reconcile with her family.”

“Tamar Braxton: Get Ya Life!” is currently in post-production.

A spokesperson for Braxton said, “Tamar has had a very tough and emotional day—more information will be coming in the next few days. Please pray for her.”

People Magazine reported, “Braxton and Adefeso’s show ‘Coupled & Quarantined,’ which they live stream on YouTube, did not air as planned Thursday night. Instead the channel posted a 10-minute video with a statement to fans.”

The statement reads, “Hello y’all, unfortunately our girl Tamar is under the weather today and not feeling well so we need to postpone today’s show (don’t worry it’s not COVID). We’re sad because we had a great show lined up for you today, but next week’s show is going to be even bigger and better.

“Sorry for the inconvenience, we know many of you look forward to the show every week. We’ll make it up to you next week.”

On July 16, WE TV debuted a trailer for the upcoming docuseries, “Tamar Braxton: Get Ya Life!”

In the teaser, she said, “I lost my family, I lost my dreams. It’s time to give myself a shot.”
