Alleged shooter in death of CSU student turns self in

By Uba Okereke

The man accused of shooting and killing a Central State University student Friday morning turned himself in to police Tuesday.

According to the Dayton Daily News, an arrest warrant had been issued for Jason Dashaun Shern, 30, who is connected with the death of Kordero D. Hunter, a CSU student from the Country Club Hills, Ill.

Hunter, who turned 21 on Sept. 6, was a defensive back on the football team. He was shot in the chest around 2 a.m. early Friday morning following an altercation at the A List Lounge, a downtown Dayton nightclub. Hunter died at a local hospital.

Police say that a large number of CSU students were bused to the club for a college night where the incident happened thereafter. The alleged shooter is not a CSU student.

Five others were injured and were innocent bystanders, Dayton police said.
