Emerging Careers: Job Opportunities with a Future

According to CareerBuilder.com, there are a number of jobs that could be considered emerging careers by the nature of the current economic situation as well as the technological advances taking place globally.

Many jobs that were once considered “recession proof” are not so safe, thus, applicants looking for job opportunities need to broaden their search and examine new trends.

First among the emerging careers is home stager.

This career has emerged within the interior design industry due to the large numbers of homes that are on the market due to foreclosures.

With the housing market still at a critical period and homes taking longer to sell, the savvy home stager works with realtors and home sellers to stage the homes to make them more appealing to potential buyers.

Most home stagers are self-employed and they can set their own rates. This is an emerging career that requires creativity and flexibility.

In the health care industry, there are a number of emerging careers as this industry continues to generate “recession proof” jobs.

Health informatics technicians are the personnel who transition files into electronic medical records and use computer systems to help doctors to analyze and diagnose in addition to improving care and cost controls.

There is an 18 percent job growth in this arena and the average salary is just over $30,000.

From computer systems to patient support, we now look at the emerging career of a patient advocate who assist patients with medical bills and health care information.

With an increasingly aging population and a health care system that is becoming more digital, the personal touch is still required to advise patients and their loved ones regarding the many options from treatments to insurance.

Negotiating bills on behalf of patients with insurance companies and health care providers is a tremendous career opportunity and, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the income potential is close to $50,000 with a 24 percent job growth.

In the computer technology industry, where emerging careers abound, simulation developer is experiencing a 38 percent job growth.

The simulation arena provides a new way for people in a wide variety of industries to train and prepare for exciting, and sometimes dangerous work scenarios before they happen.

Whether it is a pilot using in-flight simulators to train for high risk flying scenarios to architects outlining proposed ideas for clients to visualize their plans, simulation developers create the online environment with a salary potential that is just below $60,000.

Rounding out the top five in emerging careers are green jobs that have been touted as the industry of the future.

From the job growth potential alone, clean energy jobs outperformed job growth in 38 states and the District of Columbia, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics.

Salaries in this industry depend on the specific position and the range of job opportunities is extensive from public to private sector and commercial to residential. Whether it is energy generation, transportation or research and advocacy, green jobs provide a plethora of emerging career opportunities.

There are emerging career opportunities in a number of industries including computer technology, health care, interior design and clean energy. Finding a job opportunity with a future could be easier than you think and possibly close to home.
